The Weaving Process
As with all artistic mediums, designing and making the final creation is not necessarily easy. With handwaving fabric, it can take up to, and maybe more than 15 steps:

1. CREATE THE DESIGN: Like any artistic creation, it starts with an idea that becomes a design.
2. The design is TRANSLATED INTO WARP AND WEFT: Calculations are made; design details finalized; and supplies gathered. Now begins the actual warping of the loom.
3. The warp is MEASURED;
4. SLEYED through the reed;
5. THREADED through the heddles;
6. TIED to the back beam;
7. ROLLED onto the back beam;
8. LASHED to the breast beam; and
9. TENSIONED.
10. LOOM TIE UP is adjusted to create even tension across the warp.
11. If a computer-assisted loom is being used, the pattern will be PROGRAMMED into the weaving software
.12. Finally, you are ready to WEAVE. The act of weaving – sitting at the loom, throwing the shuttle over and over, adding weft to warp, watching the fabric grow – can be very meditative. Or it can be a very focused, where one is literally composing a one- of-a-kind textile that evolves on the loom.
13. When the entire warp is woven, it is CUT OFF the loom.
14. FINISHING the textile starts with HEMMING (securing the warp threads to prevent unraveling).
15. Then the textile will be WASHED, DRYED and IRONED, if needed. Finally, it is done; ready to be used and enjoyed.
